Surveillance Transparency Community Mapped

DeFlock

deflock.org

DeFlock is a free, open-source, crowdsourced map of Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras — including Flock Safety systems — being deployed across the country. Anyone can contribute a sighting, and the map is public and community-maintained.

Why we support this

  • Citizens deserve to know where automated surveillance infrastructure exists before they drive into it.
  • Mass, warrantless license-plate tracking raises real Fourth Amendment concerns that deserve public scrutiny.
  • Many ALPR deployments are approved locally with little public notice — this tool brings them into the light.
  • It's independent, nonpartisan, and open-source — accountability tools shouldn't require anyone's permission.
